Trailhead Fire

The Tevis Board is working hard on trying to overcome the problems due to the Trailhead Fire. As of today, we believe that we can find an alternate trail that will include parts of trails used in years past to bypass the burned areas. It will not make significant changes to the overall Tevis Ride.

Our biggest concern is that the fire is contained and the air quality is acceptable on race day. The fire around the trails seems to be contained and does not seem to be a continuing threat. The fire across the Middle Fork of the American River is still active. The Calfire website says that the Trailhead fire is expected to be contained on July 10th which means the air quality should be fine for race day.

The Western States Trail Foundation is moving forward as if the ride will occur as scheduled on July 23rd but this plan is subject to the unpredictability of a California wildfire.  We realize that this makes it difficult for all the participants who are traveling from any distance. We will put out information regularly. We expect to put out updated information about the ride on Friday, July 8th.

Please continue to check back for further updates.
